Matthew 6:25-34
[ Do Not Worry ] “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? …
Jesus tells us clearly not to worry, yet we do. Some days I worry more than others but I do worry. How I wish I didn’t!
My son is not a worrier. He tours with a worship band, ATF LIVE. They lead worship for the Teen Mania Acquire the Fire Events. In early December they were in Billings, MT. He was there during the 1st of the killer snow/ice/freezing storms that have plagued the USA this winter. It was -15F and they were just outside of Billings. They hit a patch of ice and the van with attached trailer turned 2 1/2 times and landed in a ditch with a jackknifed trailer on back. He said when they began to slide, he KNEW they would not die nor get seriously hurt because God had called them to Billings and he had several worship sets to play. And then he thought since I’m not going to die, I might as well enjoy this little adventure. So he raised his hands and screamed like he was on a roller coaster. And sure enough no one is the van was hurt. Praise God!
However, the adventure does not stop here. The van would not start and they were stuck in the snow. So here was my Texas son in a van freezing. There again he knew he was not going to die. He had his sweatshirts, coat, and a blanket on and they waited for about 3 hours before they got help. And I can only imagine the conversation that went on. Actually, I don’t want to know. LOL!
Now my initial mom thought was that he had lost his mind and it was best that I am not with him on his road adventures or maybe he need to come home and learn some sense.LOL! Next my thoughts turned to being grateful to God for keeping the guys in the band safe.
And then I thought, Oh God, how I wish I had that kind of faith that could change life’s accidents into adventures! God, give me that kind of faith!
