Parenting, it is the noblest of all professions, not to mention the most challenging and important thing we ever do. When we find out we’re expecting, we read everything we can get our hands on and everyone has free advice.
We plan, prepare, and look forward to the glorious day. We take our little bundle of joy home, enjoy everyones oh’s and ah’s, and continue to give free advice.
But one day, the advice becomes conflicting, or maybe the advice we read doesn’t work for us; we look at our spouse and think, “What have we gotten ourselves into?” Our little darling starts making messes, big messes. They start telling us no, throw tantrums at the most inconvenient times, and in the most inconvenient places.
Nugget
nuhg-it (noun)
-a lump of something, as of precious metal.
-anything of great value, significance, or the like: nuggets of wisdom
Parenting nuggets are little pieces of parental advice that I have learned through the years. These are either things that have worked for me, or things I wish I knew as my husband and I journeyed through raising our children.
Today’s nugget is very simple, yet is the most important thing a parent can do.
“Pray until your knees hurt and then pray some more.”
Yes, pray and listen to God. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble”. Psalm 46:1
My prayer for you today is that when you are having a bad day, you will remember to take a couple of seconds to ask God to help you and rest in the fact that He will.
