I am a mother who homeschooled two amazing young adults and would like to share both my success and failure stories.
My daughter, Jana, is a missionary to Burundi, a small African country. She works as a teacher in a secondary boarding school whose goal is to raise up Christian leaders who will change the nation.
My son, Jeremy, is a musician. He is currently on staff with Teen Mania Ministries and tours with their Acquire the Fire ministry.
One may ask, how do you raise two children who love God and are in ministry in the society we live in? First of all, it is not easy and my husband and I are not super Christians nor super parents. But we stood on the verse in Proverbs 22:6,
” Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” (NIV)
And that is what we did. We began praying before they were born and asked God for wisdom daily and then did what we felt was God’s best.
If you are thinking, “Oh no! I didn’t do that, I didn’t even know God or how to pray before my kids were born, take heart. It is never too late to pray! God loves you and the word says in James 5:16:
“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
That means if you are righteous (in right standing with God) then your prayers are both powerful and effective. So take heart, pray, believe and never give up!
