Audio Adrenaline sang this popular song in the 1990’s that was re-purposed by both the Newsboys and Casting Crowns in more recent times. This is a song we sing during missions services to encourage us to dedicate our lives to the Lord.
I want to be your hands,
I want to be your feet,
I’ll go where you send me
I’ll go where you send me.
But what does this mean and where does God want us to go? So many times we think we must be a missionary to a third world country to be used by God, but that is not true. Yes, God loves the people in third world countries and it breaks His heart to see the suffering brought on by others, but God also loves the people in our neighborhoods.
God can use us every day. I’ve recently re-read the book The Prayer of Jabez by Bruce Wilkinson. One of the things the author talks about is praying that God will enlarge your borders. By that, he means that your level of influence will be expanded. I’ve prayed that prayer over the last few weeks . At first, I didn’t see much happen, but I’ve re-connected with some people and have had the opportunity to pray with others and that’s a good thing.
I am not on the front lines like my kids. Most of my time is spent at home taking care of my husband, praying for my kids, and writing. But I am influential and as I pray for my borders to be enlarged, I believe my influence will be expanded.
I encourage you to be aware of your surroundings and look for opportunities where God can use you even if it seems like a small, insignificant thing. You never know when you will make a difference in a life.
