Shepherding Your Children

September 29, 2016 by Pat Cobb 2 Comments

One day Jesus was talking to his disciples and he asked Simon Peter if he loved Jesus more than the others and Simon Peter said, “Yes, of course I do.”  Jesus then instructed Simon Peter to “feed my lambs.”  Jesus repeated it two more times and Simon Peter said, “Yes, you know that I love you.”  The last time Jesus asked Simon Peter he said, “Take care of my sheep.”  (John 21:15-17).

This got me to thinking, I’m not Simon Peter.  I’m not a minister.  I’m a mom who homeschooled my children, how does that relate to me?  Well, my children are kind of like my flock of sheep.  When they were growing up, I led them, took care of them, taught them, shared God with them, and helped them find their way.  I was their shepherd and you are the shepherd of your children.

For the next few months, I plan to blog about how moms are shepherds to their children; how we take care of them intellectually, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Look for my blog posts on Mondays and Thursdays and let me know what you think.
