No Man Is An Island

December 17, 2013 by pcobb0 2 Comments

No Man Is An Island  by John Donne

No man is an island,
Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thy friend’s
Or of thine own were:
Any man’s death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee.

What a great poem, “No Man Is An Island!  How many times do we try to do it alone?  God did not create us to live a lonely life, nor to think we can do it all without help.   Sometimes we become overly stressed due to the fact that we are trying to do everything alone.  As the Beatles song says, “Try to get by with a little help from my friends.”

I know from personal experience that I try to do it all by myself and don’t think I need help, yet I do. Sometimes I feel as if my struggles are insignificant but they aren’t. Does this hit a chord with any of you.

My accountability partner is my husband, Keary. He keeps me on my toes and really is my best friend. My sister and mother are also “friends” who help me stay on track.  My daughter is at the age that she can offer advice and can keep me accountable.  Through the years I’ve had partners who have helped me through problems  but at this stage in life my family is my rock and support.

That’s what the Day 6 Challenge from Say Goodbye to Survival Mode is all about.  Crystal encourages us to find an accountability partner, someone who is willing to join forces with us to help keep us on track whether it’s trying to lose weight, further our education, quit smoking, get out of debt, start a new business or whatever our goals are.

So I encourage you to find someone to help you stay on track whether it’s a family member, close friend, prayer partner or even online forum.  For those of you on the book launch team, the facebook page is a great place to start.

As a special deal, anyone who pre-orders the book will get $125 in freebies. If you are interested click on the link below:
